Horley Carnival

The Horley Carnival was held on 13 July 2013 and run by a collaboration of local organisations. Horley Town Council, Horley Round Table, Horley Lions, Horley & District Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary & 41Clubs and Horley Girl Guides were all involved with the event while floats were created by schools, pubs and other local organisations.

It was a very successful day with a full programme of events held in the Horley Recreation Ground preceded by a wonderful display of floats around the town.

The free event - supported by the borough and county councils - also featured a model railway, fun fair and dog show.

Surrey School of Ballet, Silver Ribbons Dance School and local groups Vegas Nights and Blown Gasket all put on displays in the sunshine. Chairman of the Carnival Committee, Mike George, said after the event: "On the day many thousands of local residents and people from surrounding towns such as Reigate and Redhill descended on the Recreation Ground to enjoy a programme of arena events from local bands and dance troupes, and visit the many stalls."

Sovereign Gymnastics Club's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory float won with The Wombles of Wimbledon Common, by Britaniacrest Recycling, in second and Treasure Island in third - created by Horley Infant School and the Rotary Club of Horley.
