WI Poppies Create Amazing Display on Railings
Back in January this year, members of the Horley Women's Institute approached Horley Town Council with the idea of displaying knitted and crocheted poppies on the railings around the Memorial Gardens at the Recreation Grounds. They were so successful in encouraging local participation across various groups in Horley that 4500 individual poppies were produced, enough to fill the railings all the way down to the Recreation Ground entrance.
Last Sunday a group of volunteers braved the cold winds to put up the poppies along the railings, creating a vibrant and inspiring display. (Thanks also go to the Bowls club for bringing out hot cups of tea and coffee!)
