Horley Town Council Building Reopened after Office Expansion and Sustainability Project
Horley Town Council is delighted to announce the Practical Completion of its Council Office Expansion and Sustainability Project, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of a more modern, accessible, and energy-efficient Council building and enhanced community facility for Horley.
The project, made possible through a generous grant from Reigate & Banstead Borough Council via the Strategic CIL SIP 2 Scheme, has transformed the Council's offices and a new rear extension at the back including a hirers' kitchen, providing modern, accessible and sustainable facilities for staff, councillors, hirers and the wider community. The Council would like to thank Reigate & Banstead Borough Council for its support and for providing the CIL SIP 2 grant, which has made this important project possible.
Following a final inspection by MVL Architects, Practical Completion has now been formally achieved. All outstanding building works and safety matters have been satisfactorily addressed, and the Council is pleased to confirm that the Council Offices and Edmonds Community Hall are now fully open to staff, residents, visitors and community groups.
A key part of the project has been improving the building's sustainability and energy efficiency. The works have incorporated solar panels and a range of measures designed to reduce the building's energy consumption and improve its environmental performance. The improved building fabric and energy-efficient features will help the Council reduce its reliance on traditional energy sources, lower running costs and reduce its carbon footprint, while creating a more sustainable facility for the future.
The extension provides significantly improved office accommodation, creating a modern working environment for Council staff while supporting future growth and enhancing services for the community. Improvements also include a spacious multifunctional meeting room, a modern fully accessible kitchen, improved welfare facilities for staff and councillors, and enhanced accessibility throughout the building.
The Council would like to express its sincere thanks to the Office Expansion Working Group, MVL Architects, the contractors and all those involved in delivering the project. Their professionalism, dedication and collaborative approach have helped create a facility that will serve the community for generations.
Special thanks are also extended to everyone who has supported the project behind the scenes, including councillors who have helped maintain the new landscaping by watering the grass and plants during the recent warm weather.
Horley Town Council looks forward to welcoming residents, community groups and organisations to enjoy the improved facilities and the many benefits they will bring to the community for years to come.
The Council will also be arranging an unveiling ceremony at a later date, with local representatives and other invited guests, to mark the completion of this important project officially. Further details will be announced when arrangements have been confirmed.
