Removal of requirements to publish a member's home address

As of 29 June 2026, local authorities will not be required to publish an elected or co-opted                member's home address in local authority Registers of Interests.

The new section 32A of the Localism Act 2011 makes clear that a member's home address should not be disclosed on a local authority's public Register of Interest unless the member has requested otherwise.

Horley Town Council will be implementing this change with immediate effect.

Members will still be required to provide their address (and any other land they own) within their Register of Interest, however these details will be withheld from the public version, unless the member expressly requests publication.

Accordingly, the Council will be removing home addresses from councillor profiles on the website and from the public version of Register of Interests, where applicable.
