Co-Option of Town Councillor - Horley West ward
Horley Town Council
Press Release
May 2026
At the Annual Meeting of Horley Town Council, held on 5 May 2026, Members co-opted Maggie Evans to the vacant Town Councillor position to represent the Horley West ward.

Maggie has lived in Horley since 1995, where she has raised her family and built strong ties within the community. Her children attended local schools and she has developed a lasting connection to the town and a strong commitment to its future.
Maggie has a background in customer service and has spent many years working locally, including 17 years with Delta Air Lines and, since 2000, as a Receptionist at Horley Leisure Centre. She has also been actively involved in the community through volunteering at local schools and delivering children’s Music and Movement classes across Horley and the surrounding areas.
More recently, Maggie has focused on voluntary work and community initiatives. She is an active volunteer with Pets As Therapy, visiting a local care home, primary school and dementia support group each week with her dog. She is also a member of Horley Wombles, helping to keep the town clean, and is involved with local groups including the Archway Theatre and the Horley Historical Society. Her involvement in Horley in Bloom has also been recognised through awards for a community allotment and in recognition of her own garden.
Maggie states:
“I have lived in Horley for many years and feel a strong connection to the town and community. Through my work and volunteering, I have built relationships with many local residents and organisations, and I am passionate about supporting and enhancing our local area.
I am passionate about working collaboratively and believe strongly in listening to residents, representing their views, and working constructively with others. I am committed to helping Horley continue to thrive as a vibrant, supportive and welcoming place to live, and I would love the opportunity to contribute as a Town Councillor.”
