Horley In Bloom Celebrates its Winners
Friday 26th September saw Horley celebrate its gardening, photographic and carnival winners.
The winners of Horley in Bloom 2025 and Horley Photographic competitions were awarded their certificates and prizes with photos taken with their winning trophies and shields in an evening of celebration.
Horley carnival winners were also on hand to add additional color to the night as they collected their certificates, some in carnival costume.
Reigate & Banstead Deputy Mayor, Cllr Zelanie Cooper, alongside Horley Mayor, Cllr Lynnette Easterbrook handed out the prizes to the worthy winners. This year saw a considerable increase in the number of people entering Horley in Bloom, showing how popular spending time in our gardens continues to be.
Reigate & Banstead Deputy Mayor, Cllr Cooper said,'
'First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who took part – from the gardeners, photographers, carnival entrants to the volunteers and visitors, and of course, organisers and the judges who had the impossible task of picking winners from so many incredible entries both in the Horley in Bloom categories as well as the Horley carnival, you are the roots of these events (please excuse the pun). It is important to remember that today isn’t just about who took home a prize (although that hard work should never be downplayed). It’s about celebrating the spirit of community – something that flourishes here in Horley just as beautifully as the colours and images captured by those taking part, whether it be through the media of photography or through themed fancy dress.
A town is much like a garden. It needs care. It needs time and a lot of dedication. But when we nurture it, support one another, and take pride in where we live, the results are as breathtaking. Behind every petal, plant and costume, there’s a story that provides us with a reminder of what we can grow when we come together and how important these shared community values are. In a world that often feels too fast and too disconnected, community events remind us to slow down, focus on our local neighbourhood and to connect with other residents and visitors in order to make Horley such a wonderful place.
To our award winners today: congratulations and thank you for all your passion. Your dedication and creativity have not only brightened our community, serve as an inspiration to us all. So let’s carry that spirit forward. Let’s keep growing gardens, yes – but also kindness, connection, and pride in our shared community.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your celebrations, and long may the great creativity continue!'
Horley Town Mayor, Cllr Lynnette Easterbrook commented,
'I was delighted to attend the Horley in Bloom awards evening and celebrate the creative talents of Horley residents. The gardeners, who gave us such rich and diverse horticultural displays, the photographers, who captured magical moments in nature, and the Horley Carnival float winners, who interpreted the theme of ‘myths and legends’ with great gusto. With such creativity and inspiration on display we can truly say that Horley is a town that is blooming with talent, which has the power to lift our spirits. I would like to express my thanks to the organisers and helpers, Cllr Cooper, St Catherine’s Hospice (who provided such excellent cakes for sale), and most especially, all those who took part and shared their creations with us, for making a memorable evening.'
