VE Day 80th Anniversary – Events in Horley

Thursday 8 May 2025 marks 80 years since Victory in Europe Day, a national moment of remembrance commemorating the end of World War II in Europe.

We are pleased to share the following details of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council's commemorative events, along with community-led activities taking place locally in Horley:

Commemorative Bell Ringing at St Bartholomew’s Church -   Thursday 8 May

A single bell will be rung at 12.00pm and again at 12.15 pm at St Bartholomew’s Church, Horley’s Parish Church, to mark this historic occasion.

The church will be open for refreshments during this time. All are welcome.

VE Day Afternoon Tea & Entertainment - Friday 9 May

Horley Community Centre - Starting at 11.00am

Join for a special Afternoon Tea hosted by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. Enjoy hot and cold wartime-style refreshments and live entertainment "for the troops".

Royal British Legion Street Stall -  Saturday 10 May

Pedestrian Precinct (junction of High Street & Victoria Road, RH6 7AB)

We encourage all residents to take part and support these local commemorative events as we remember the sacrifices of those who served and mark 80 years of peace in Europe.
