Reigate & Banstead Leader shares support for Ukraine

Leader of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Cllr Mark Brunt, shares support for Ukraine: Published Wednesday, 2nd March 2022

“Our hearts and minds are with the brave people of Ukraine in this terrible situation as they fight to preserve their independence and right to determine their future.

"We will be showing our support for Ukraine by flying the Ukrainian flag and lighting up our Town Hall in the colours of the flag - thinking especially of our residents who have friends and family directly affected.

“As part of our commitment to the Global Resettlement Scheme, we look forward to extending our support to any Ukrainian Refugees arriving in our borough.”

How you can help

If you would like to help, consider donating to The Disasters Emergency Committee's (DEC) Ukranian appeal (which brings together leading UK aid agencies to raise money), the UN’s humanitarian work, or the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

If you want to help, Government advice is that the most effective way is to make a financial donation to one of the charities providing humanitarian relief, rather than giving goods. Cash can be transferred quickly to areas where it is needed and aid organisations can use it to buy what they need most.
