Grand Opening of Cafe & Tennis Courts

Horley Town Council is very pleased to announce that the grand opening at the new Café Pavilion at Horley Recreation Ground alongside the opening of the refurbished Tennis Courts will be held on Saturday, 11 September, from 12 noon until 2.00 pm.

We will be delighted to welcome the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Cllr Jill Bray and Horley Town Mayor, Cllr Samantha Marshall, who will be joined by  Claire Coutinho MP in the official ceremony which will take place at 12.20 pm sharp.  It will also include the presentation of Town Awards to two worthy recipients who will receive a small silver replica of the Mayor’s badge, a framed Certificate and a Citation for their voluntary work in the community.

The new Café operators are excited to showcase ‘The Farmyard Kitchen …in the park’ on opening day and all residents, visitors and park users will be most welcome to attend the event now that social-distancing restrictions have been fully lifted.  The arrangements put in place aim provide an exciting, fun day for everyone and to share in this great achievement by the Town Council. There will also be entertainment provided by a local jazz band and a light buffet.  For everyone’s safety, appropriate safety measures will be put in place, including car park marshalling to control vehicles.

We are very proud to have brought this major capital project to fruition and are immensely grateful to the efforts of everyone involved in the development to create a contemporary, stylish Café Pavilion and to provide a real legacy for the Horley community for years to come.  Our appreciation is extended to our tenants of the Horley Bowling club for their assistance; to local community groups, organisations and individuals for their ongoing support in so many different ways; and to all residents and visitors for their co-operation during the construction period.  We hope that alongside the many popular recreational facilities already available, that the new tennis courts, extended car park and soft landscaping will be seen to transform the park into a flagship recreation ground.

We sincerely wish the Café Operators, ‘The Farmyard Kitchen’, continued success in their business venture and are delighted to note all the complimentary and positive feedback received so far. Their hard work and commitment to this new business venture is nothing less than exemplary and we fully endorse their positive message that everyone is welcome at ‘The Farmyard Kitchen …in the park’
