Love Parks Week: Keep Britain Tidy

Keep Britain Tidy are calling on you to help us love, protect and respect our parks this ‘Love Parks Week’ 23rd July – 1st August 2021. This year, more than ever, our parks and green spaces have been a vital lifeline to so many of us during lockdown.

  • In May 2020, 36% of people responding to the People and Nature Survey by Natural England said they were spending more time outside during the pandemic than before. This rose to 46% in July 2020.
  • Around 9 in 10 people surveyed by Natural England in May 2020 agreed that natural spaces are good for mental health and wellbeing.
  • More than 40% noticed that nature, wildlife, and visiting local green and natural spaces have been even more important to their wellbeing since the coronavirus restrictions began.

Our green spaces have been under immense pressure, with local authorities telling us that on average they collected an extra 57 tonnes (per local authority) of litter during the first lockdown alone.

Love parks Week is a chance for you to celebrate your park and showcase the best of what your park has to offer, as well as educate visitors on how to respect the space when they visit.
