Horley in Bloom Competition Launched
The Horley in Bloom Organising Committee has launched this year’s competition. Categories are as follows:
- Residential Front Garden
- Residential Back Garden
- Residential Flat **new category**
- Community
- Schools
- Hanging Basket
- Allotments
- Guesthouse / B&B
- Commercial (includes Pubs)
This year we have a new “Residential Flats” category, which we hope will prove popular. There will as usual be awards for the best newcomer to the competition and for the entry deemed by the judges to be the best example of a “Cottage Garden”. Judges will be keen to see evidence of the use of recycled water and the composting of green waste. Extra marks may be awarded where plants have been grown from seed. We are delighted that Court Lodge Residents Association and Horley Floral Art Group are once again arranging their separate competitions as part of Horley in Bloom.
The Horley in Bloom Committee is keen to maintain the progress of the competition, now in its 17th year, in particular following the success of the recent Horley in Spring competition.”
Horley has once again entered the South & South East in Bloom Competition and hopes to improve on the Silver Gilt and Silver Awards gained last year
Horley in Bloom entry forms are available from the Town Council Offices or can be downloaded from our web site www.horleysurrey-tc.gov,uk. Closing date for entries is Tuesday 28 June 2011. Judging will take place during the first week in July (allotments will be judged in August) and the Awards Evening will be held at Regent Hall on Friday 30 September.
