Horley Conservation Group events

 

Important – Meet on-site at 0945 for a 10am start. Tasks normally finish by approximately 2:30pm. Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. Please bring a packed lunch and sun protection. Regular volunteers are recommended to have an up to date tetanus inoculation. New volunteers must sign a medical disclaimer on first arrival.

April

Wed 3rd – Tilgate LNR – Birch seedling removal. Park at end of Rosamund Road, Crawley.

Wed 10th – Leechpool Woods, Skunk cabbage removal(wellington boots essential). Meet in Leechpool Woods car park, off Harwood Road, Horsham.

Sun 14th – Horley Conservation Group, East of Horley circular walk, meet at The Farmhouse Pub at 0945

Wed 17th – Owlbeech Woods, Horsham – Broadwalk repairs. Park by Owlbeech Woods play area.

Wed 24th – Owlbeech Woods or Warnham LNR (tbc).

Sun 28th – Friends of St Leonard’s Forest. Reptile sheet installation. Meet at Bridleway gate south of Forest Road, Colgate.

 

May

Wed 1st – Glover’s Wood, Charlwood, site walk. Park at end of Glover’s Road.

Wed 8th – Warnham LNR, Horsham, Broadwalk repairs/Pond digging. Meet in car park.

Sun 12th – Horley Conservation Group, Tanyard Meadows, hay raking (details tbc)

Wed 15th – Hammond’s copse, Charlwood, site walk. Main entrance off Broad Lane near Dorking (nearest post code is RH5 5AS).

Wed 22nd – Alder Copse (Horsham), Post and rail and culvert. Meeting point – Granary Way, RH12 1XS. Park near Granary Close, but leave small parking area for local residents.

Sun 26th – Friends of St Leonard’s Forest. Reptile survey/Wildlife recording (see 28th April).

Wed 29th – Edolph’s Copse/Ricketts Wood – Site visit/boardwalk repairs. Main entrance off Stan Hill Road, Charlwood.

 

June

Wed 5th – Church Meadow, Horley, Himalayan Balsam (HB) removal. Meeting point tbc.

Wed 12th – Travelodge Gatick, HB. Meet in car park at rear of Travelodge Gatick.

Sun 16th – Horley Conservation Group, Burstow Steam, HB. Meet in car park off Riverside.

Sun 23rd – Friends of St Leonard’s Forest. Reptile survey/Wildlife recording (see 28th April).

Wed 11th – Buchan Country Park, Holly removal. Meet by Visitor Centre.

Sat 14th – Horley Conservation Group, Riverside Garden Park, scrub clearance. Meet in car park, off Riverside.

Wed 18th – Buchan Country Park, Holly removal. Meet by Visitor Centre.

Sun 22nd – Friends of St Leonard’s Forest. Heathland maintenance (see 28th April).

Wed 25th – Riverside Garden Park, Horley. Stream bank clearance. Meet in car park, off Riverside.
