Horley in Bloom Competition Launched

The Horley in Bloom Organising Committee has launched this year’s competition. Categories are as follows:

  • Residential (Front Garden)
  • Residential (Back Garden)
  • Community
  • Schools
  • Hanging Basket
  • Allotments
  • Guesthouse / B&B
  • Commercial (includes Pubs)

There will also be awards for the best newcomers to the competition and for the entry deemed by the judges to be the best example of a “Cottage Garden”. Judges will be keen to see evidence of the use of recycled water and the composting of green waste. Extra marks may be awarded where plants have been grown from seed. We are delighted that Court Lodge Residents Association, Horley Country Markets and Horley Floral Art Group are once again arranging their separate competitions as part of Horley in Bloom.

Mike George, Horley in Bloom’s Chairman, said that he is keen to maintain the progress of the competition, now in its 16th year. Cllr George said “It is very pleasing to see the competition go from strength to strength following the success of our recent Horley in Spring competition.”

Horley has once again entered the South & South East in Bloom Competition and hopes to improve on the Silver Gilt and Silver Awards gained last year .

Horley in Bloom entry forms are available from the Town Council Offices or can be downloaded here. Closing date for entries is Monday 28 June. Judging will take place during the first week in July (allotments will be judged in August) and the Awards Evening will be held on Friday 24 September at Regent Hall.
