Great British September Clean

 Great British September Clean

Horley Mayor and Council leader David Powell said: “Keeping Horley clean and litter free is a priority for the council as litter is unsightly and hazardous to our natural environment. We’re also delighted to be joined by Claire Coutinho MP on Saturday 26th September to litter pick with the Horley community.”

To coincide with Claire’s visit, Horley Town Council is encouraging residents to get out and pick litter on Saturday 26th September from 9am-12pm. The town council offices will have a supply of purple litter picking rubbish sacks available from Monday 21st September.

The campaign, which was postponed in early spring due to Covid-19, will run from 11-27 September 2020. It will encourage the great British public to take part in small, socially distanced clean-ups to remove litter from streets, parks and beaches across the country.

The Great British Spring Clean, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to show they love where they live and in 2019 more than half a million #LitterHeroes collected more than 900,000 bags of rubbish.
