Volunteer Shout out for 'Q Garden'

Horley community “Q Garden project” – Volunteers needed!

For the past 5 years this once beautiful area on the corner of The Drive and Russells Crescent in Horley, has been looked after voluntarily by Jan, a Horley resident. She affectionately refers to it as Horley‘s “Q Garden”; and in 2019, thanks to her hard work, the garden won a “Horley in Bloom” award!

But now, Jan can no longer manage the upkeep without others to help, so this is an appeal for volunteers who enjoy gardening!

Photograph of the Q gardenReasons this project might be just what you’re looking for:
1. You’d like to improve the appearance of Horley and give enjoyment to passers by
2. You enjoy gardening, whether experienced or novice
3. You might be missing having a garden of your own
4. You enjoy working outdoors and as part of a (socially distanced) team

The possible reasons for joining us are many and varied, so if you are interested, please get in touch to ask more. Or just turn up at the garden at 10am on Saturday July 11th. You will be warmly welcomed! The plants, compost and any other materials will be paid for out of fundraising and donations so you would only be volunteering your time. Tools, gloves and guidance if you are new to gardening can all be provided.

To entice you further, the residents in nearby Russells Crescent have said they are very happy to supply copious amounts of tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake to all the gardeners!
It’s going to be fun, so please join us!

Best wishes,
Ali, Jan and Jim
