Come and join in the Horley Town Council celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee 2022

 Horley Town Council are delighted to be supporting the local community in celebrating HRH The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

21:15 at Reigate's Priory Park

Jubilee Beacon Lighting - The official beacon lighting ceremony to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Beacons across the country will be lit at 21:15.

Noon - 6pm at Horley Recreation Ground

Picnic in the park poster

Picnic in the Park - As part of the Big Jubilee Lunch, come along to Horley Recreation Ground for an afternoon of fun, entertainment and celebrations. There will be live music and bouncy castles throughout the afternoon.

You can pre-order your picnic from the Café in the Park (Farmyard Kitchen) or alternatively, you can bring your own.

We welcome Royal Fancy Dress to mark the occasion and you can collect a prize for taking part.

2pm at The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Gardens - Join Horley Town Council for the garden re-naming ceremony of the former Ornamental Gardens to commemorate this special occasion. We are proud to have also taken part in The Queen's Green Canopy, and you can see our tree on the official  interactive map and at the ceremony.

Information regarding Street Parties

Street Party and road closure applications are now open, with many applications having been received for parties taking place on Sunday 5 June.

If you would like to hold a small street party or fete you will need to inform the Council. Your request should be made by using the downloadable PDF or the online form accessible on Reigate and Banstead's website.

You should allow six weeks notice before the day of the event as a minimum.

On 6th February 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate this remarkable anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. The bank holiday provides an opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.

The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) 


2nd-5th June

Lighting up the UK and Commonwealth for the Queen’s Jubilee - Over 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories.

The Queen's Green Canopy - The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.”

The Platinum Pudding Competition - To mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee a nationwide baking competition set out to find a brand new pudding dedicated to The Queen. 

The winning recipe will be made available to the public and the pudding will be enjoyed at Big Jubilee Lunches during the Jubilee weekend.
