Allotments

The Town Council allotments at Church Road cover a site of just over two acres at the corner of Sangers Drive and Church Road, comprising 62 plots. For the year 2016 plot hire is £50 per annum for a full plot (125 sq m) and £30 for a half plot. If you are interested in renting an allotment, please contact Horley Town Council for further information. There is currently a long waiting list.  An additional allotment site at Langshott is now available with 80 plots of 62.5 sq m..

Update on Church Road allotments

Fencing:

The boundary fence between the allotments and the churchyards has been replaced using “Class 4” fencing posts, which will have a minimum lifespan of 15 years.

Pilfering:

We have sadly received a number of complaints about produce being taken from some plots as well as random acts of vandalism.  We have reported these incidents to local police officers, and have increased patrols by a local security company.  As another preventative measure, we would urge everyone to be extra vigilant by ensuring the gate is always secured on departure.  If anyone has any further concerns, please notify the Town Council office, (by e-mail, phone or just pop in) or you can notify your allotment rep, Rudi Buob (tel 01293 771210) or your council rep Richard Bethell (tel 01293 783195).

Skip:

A skip will arrive at the site in late October, and the precise dates will be published on notices at the hut nearer the time.

Conservation Plot

Allotment holder Mr Skillings has very kindly offered to maintain plot 38 as a conservation plot, at no cost to this Council.  We are very grateful for this and if anyone has any suitable plants or cuttings to donate, it would be very much appreciated.

Langshott Allotments:

The legal transfer of the Langshott allotment site in Ladbroke Road from Barratts to Horley Town Council took place in April 2015.  There are 80 plots of approximately 62.5 square metres in size.

South & South East in Bloom:

The Town Council was delighted to be awarded two Silver Gilt Certificates for the South & South East in Bloom competition in both categories again (Town Centre and Horley Recreation Ground).
